Diamond Slurries and Compounds
Advanced Abrasives offers a complete line of Slurry/Suspension, Compounds and Extenders. Our innovative formulas make our products out perform the competition while being one of the most price competitive in the market. Our Chemistry Lab monitors new emerging markets and next generation products and processes to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to superfinishing applications. Quality and consistency are a necessity for all of our products. To insure consistency from lot to lot, measurement techniques capable of quantifying the products characteristics are performed on each batch and retained for traceability, statistical analysis and future reference. All critical measurement equipment is monitored and calibrated using standards and statistical process control.
Slurry and Suspension
Regardless of your process, Advanced Abrasives has the right solution. Our slurries have a very low viscosity for ease of application using dispensers and sprayers. Our suspensions are ideal when continuous stirring or shaking is not an option but homogeneous dispersion of diamond is required.
We offer three base formulas that can be tailored to your application:
- Water Base - formulated for ease of use in lapping and polishing systems where fast removal rates with high surface finishes are required. They are water soluble, so no harsh chemicals are needed for clean up.
- Oil Base - formulated for compatibility in applications where petroleum distillates are used. These slurries/suspensions offer higher surface finish.
- Universal Base - formulated for compatibility with most petroleum distillate applications as well as water extender applications. They offer quick, easy cleanup without sacrificing surface finish.
Any of our Powder Product lines can be used with any of the above base components.
Depending on your application, we also offer our slurry/suspension in four primary concentrations: Light, Standard, Strong and Metallurgical. As with all our products we can customize a formula and concentration that is specific to your process or application.
Compound
Advanced Abrasives' R&D department has the experience needed to solve all of your lapping and polishing problems. Our team of experts can customize diamond size, diamond type, diamond concentration, base formula, lubricity and viscosity to meet any and all of your unique process demands.
We offer three base formulas that can be tailored to your application:
- Water Base - formulated for ease of use in lapping and polishing systems where fast removal rates with high surface finishes are required. They are water soluble, so no harsh chemicals are needed for clean up. This formula produces a very uniform finish and is ideal for mold and die polishing.
- Oil Base - formulated for compatibility in applications where petroleum distillates are used. These compounds offer aggressive stock removal and are ideal for use in all applications where water will negatively affect the part.
- Universal Base - formulated for compatibility with most petroleum distillate applications as well as water extender applications. It offers quick, easy cleanup without sacrificing surface finish. This formula can be used in almost all lapping and polishing applications including tungsten carbide and ceramics.
Extenders and Lubricants
We have developed unique extenders and lubricants to compliment our complete line of Slurries, Suspensions and Compounds.
- Oil Base Extender/Lubricant - An oil soluble lubricant with low viscosity designed for use with all oil base compounds and slurries.
- Water Base Extenders/Lubricants - Water base lubricants for use with all water base compounds and slurries.
- Alcohol Base Extender/Lubricant - Alcohol base lubricant developed for metallurgical applications and applications where part corrosion in an issue.
